Revolution Health on Rails
So, I've attempted to put myself in the shoes of those visiting the website I work on (Revolution Health) - and set a goal for myself of losing 15 pounds. Today was the day I finally saw the big 179 staring back at me! My progress to date as presented by the weight tracker tool I've been using- 194 to 179 !!!
Which reminds me... been procrastinating a bit and haven't blogged about my new day job. Been working on a new health and wellness website and we're going live very very soon (what a journey it's been, more on that another time).
If you enjoy helping others...or are researching a medical condition...or are self employed and seeking a health insurance plan to cover yourself and or your family....or wish to tell your neighborhood, town, or city about your favorite doctor...or are wishing to get in shape...or find a healthy new recipe...or are looking for others with a medical condition like your own... please take a look at what I've been working on (along of course with a team of hundreds).

Hey, for my geek friends, it is also the world's largest Portal on Rails!! (Ruby on Rails that is). Check her out - still rough around the edges in some places - but amazing progress for having rewritten the entire site in Rails starting July '06.

That would be me. Where is that on the site? I'm gonna go take a look.
If I can get equivalent benefits for less than what COBRA is costing me per month, I'd really love it.
I *believe* it will be surfaced in a matter of a few days. Putting the final fit and finish on.
For a family of three, I believe I saved around $600.00 a month by jumping off COBRA (I ended up with GoldenRule/UHC). However as you would expect, the deductibles and co-pays are much higher in a non-group plan. If you are single probably worth it to milk the "corporate" plan as long as you can (especially yours) - given the quality and depth of the coverage.
As an unfortunate side note, any invasive pre-existing condition like diabetes renders it almost impossible to get picked up on your own. Sad state of affairs. The US government has mandated that each state much keep one plan open for such individuals but the premium is usually outrageous.
The state of the industry still sucks - but hopefully education will encourage action. ;o)
I digress.
